Chromotherapy

“Chromotherapy” is the study of various colors and how they affect the physical and mental health of people.

In 1896, a French researcher named H. Baraduc, created electrographs  of energy fields surrounding human hands and botanical leaves. Two years later, electrography was demonstrated at an exhibition put on by the Russian Technical Society by Polish-Belarusian engineer, Jakub Jodko-Narkiewicz.

In 1939, two researchers from the Czech Republic, named S.Pratt, and J Schlemmer, published photographs showing energy fields around leaves. The same year, Semyon Kirlian, a Russian electrical engineer, developed photographs which showed energy being emitted from human hands. In 1958 they reported their findings.

The work went largely unnoticed until they were reported in a book by Americans, Lynn Schroeder, and Sheila Ostrander in a book entitled, “Psychic Discoveries Behind The Iron Curtain” in 1970.

These findings are important, and are related to Chromotherapy in the following way.

When the energy field surrounding the human body is photographed, it shows up in various colors of the spectrum. When a body and mind are healthy, these fields show up in the appropriate colors. It is claimed by researchers that whenever disease shows up in a body, it is first seen in the electrical field of the body. Then, six to eight months later, it shows up in the physical body.

What is this energy that surrounds the physical body? It is, at least in part, an energy that comes from outer space. It is brought here in sunlight, and possibly in the light from other suns.

When you pass sunlight through a prism, it divides light into seven colors. Those colors all represent different wavelengths of light energy coming from the sun. All of the different parts of your body need different wavelengths coming from the sun to be healthy. It has been found that there are certain benefits people can experience by being exposed to certain spectrums of light which their bodies may be lacking. This should not surprise us, what will happen to a plant if you give it too much light, or if you remove all light from it? All living creatures need a balance of light.

Nearly everyone knows that placing a person under full spectrum light when they are depressed will help eliminate depression. However, why does the knowledge stop there in most cases?

It has been discovered that placing a baby with jaundice under blue spectrum lighting helps eliminate jaundice. People who have arthritis have found some relief by being placed under blue spectrum lighting for 15 minutes at a time. In some instances, there have been some researchers who have claimed that red spectrum light battles some types of cancer.

This is a field which is worthy of deeper study, and which may hold the key to the doors of healing for a number of various ailments.

Modern Researchers are learning more all the time about the therapeutic and regenerative properties of various spectrums of light that benefit the human body.

If one goes to the maternity ward of many modern hospitals, they will see babies suffering from Jaundice placed under blue spectrum light. Take a trip to the local dentist and you may see him shining blue light on a patient’s fillings to harden them more quickly.

People are placed under infrared lights for burns or diabetic wounds. They are placed under ultraviolet lights for psoriasis wounds, or full spectrum lights for Seasonal Affective Disorders.

The idea of healing with various spectrums of light has been being developed for thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians painted rooms various colors that they believed were beneficial and then placed people in the rooms who they believed would be helped by those particular colors.

It is said that Pythagoras shone light through various different colored shades of glass to help heal people from various types of ailments.  Avicenna-an Arab philosopher, is reported to have believed that the human body healed itself by using whatever color was needed.

During the Renaissance, Paracelsus used both light and colors in his healing remedies. More recently, Dinshah Ghadiali believed that since our bodies are made of chemical elements consisting of various color waves or frequencies, sicknesses can be healed by correcting specific imbalances of various color waves or spectrums.

Albert Einstein recognized the fact that the human body is made up of various frequencies when he was quoted as saying,” We are slowed down sound and light waves, a walking bundle of frequencies tuned into the cosmos”.

It would make sense, that since we are composed of sound and light waves, that the healing of the body and mind could be promoted by a proper balance of sound and light waves.
